What It Does

You can’t paint the Chapter 8 Black Sun AEG-77 “Vigo” Gunship. Or can you…?

Wouldn’t it be cool to have a black gunship? How about a silver one? Blood red? What about putting your faction logo on her wings? Or how about an iconic squadron insignia or organization logo?

This is one of three available packs that both recolor the Vigo and add wing logos. With more than 50 complete ship retextures in all, I split them into three groups, each with its own downloadable archive: the Light Side, which includes Rebel, Republic, and Jedi textures; the Dark Side, covering Imperial and Sith insignia from various time periods, and; the Other Sides, featuring logos and textures representing many of the best known independent organizations such as the Smugglers’ Alliance, Black Sun, the Exchange, Naboo, Mandalorians, and many more.

Be sure to check out all three Vigo Gunship Texture packs as well as the matching Y-8 Texture Packs! You’ll find them all in the Mods & Macros section.

Below are shots of just the upper wings of the ships included in this texture pack; rather than show you in-game screenshots, which are big downloads, these smaller detail shots are faster views and allow you to see the insignia and colors in greater detail. Note that insignia appear on the tops and bottoms of both wings exactly like the ship in the above in-game screenshot.

How To Install

Before installing please exit SWG and Launchpad. Installing it while SWG is running will not harm the game, but you may not see the result of the mod until after exiting and restarting SWG.

  1. To install this mod, use an archiving utility such as Winzip, ExtractNow! or WinRAR to extract the files from this ZIP or RAR archive to your desktop or to a temporary folder.
  2. The archive will extract with a ReadMe.txt file and one or more subfolders, each containing a different version of the same texture file (use the images on this page to decide which texture you wish to install).
  3. Find the folder for texture you want to use, and then copy the .dds file inside it to the /texture folder in your main SWG directory (usually C:\Program Files\Star Wars Galaxies\). If there is not already a /texture folder there, make it and then copy the .dds file into it.
  4. Start Star Wars Galaxies.

Important Notes

This mod will put folders with some files in the game directory that will be used instead of the files in the game. No actual SWG game files will be overwritten.

This is a “client-side modification,” which means that only you will see a change while all other players continue to see the default object/appearance/whatever. This mod is not an exploit, and this mod does not violate the SOE Terms of Service for using Star Wars Galaxies. According to SOE you are allowed to mod the client side of SWG as long as your modifications do not affect other players’ experiences or provide you an unfair advantage. This mod will neither affect other players’ experiences nor alter your personal game play to provide you an unfair advantage over other players.

To share your new SWG experience with friends and guildies for roleplay, ask them to install this mod as well. Please don’t forward around the archive. Instead, please point friends and guildies to this page so they—and you—can stay up to date with the latest version of the mod as well as exciting other mods released by RailMagnor.com.

A complete ReadMe.txt is in the download archive.
